Description

Sweet, soft, and slightly chewy Hawaiian rolls that will transport you to a sunny beach with their delightful pineapple flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. Mix the yeast: In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it’s all foamy.
  2. Combine wet ingredients: Add in the pineapple juice, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir to combine everything nicely.
  3. Gradually add flour: Slowly add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  5. Let it rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  6. Shape the rolls: Punch down the dough gently to release the air and shape it into rolls.
  7. Second rise: Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat your oven: While the rolls are rising, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Bake the rolls: Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly before serving: Allow to cool for a few minutes. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For an extra touch, brush the tops with melted butter right after they come out of the oven.
