Instructions

- Stir in the lemon zest and juice.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack.
- Beat together cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla until smooth.
- Frost the cooled cakes and serve.
